Project Hercules, MOD Lyneham
Working across highly regulated sectors including nuclear and defence, Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick's Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) make sure the vital infrastructure we all rely on is there when we need it.
Power generation and nuclear decommissioning
Delivering standalone packages, or as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, our portfolio in the power sector includes the mechanical, electrical, HVAC and support services infrastructure at the Hinkley Point C new nuclear power station, three long-term frameworks for PPP at the decommissioning of Sellafield nuclear facility as well as taking part in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction proposal stage competition for the Net Zero Teesside Power, Capture and Compression project. We are well-versed in meeting the stringent requirements of working in the nuclear and other highly regulated industries. Our uncompromising approach to safety is coupled with our focus on quality and delivering Right First Time.
Our project teams are made up of Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) in all roles and we make sure both our own people and our supply chain partners have the right experience, certifications and training to complete works safely and to the highest standards of quality. Our investment in our people is supported by our culture of continuous improvement that sees best practice and lessons learnt from previous projects shape how we deliver today and drive innovation across our business.
As we construct and maintain the vital power infrastructure we all rely on, we work with a wide group of stakeholders to make sure we leave a positive impact on local communities. This includes supporting local businesses to become our supply chain partners and ensuring the economic benefits of a project are concentrated in the local area. To attract the next generation of experts to our industry, we support local schools with their curriculum and are working with the Prince’s Trust to provide work placements for unemployed young people to help them enter into full time employment.
Defence
We deliver high-security infrastructure for the UK Armed Forces as well as for US Visiting Forces based in the UK.
Our security cleared workforce has a proven track record of delivery including schemes at RAF Lossiemouth, the Ministry of Defence Lyneham training facility, and at RAF Brize Norton where we developed a maintenance facility for the A400M, or Atlas, aircraft. We also completed heavy engineering and cabling works to the new Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers for the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (BAE Systems, Thales, Babcock, DE&S).
