Empowering communities through bridge building

Since 2015, teams from our UK and US businesses have been instrumental in completing 13 life-changing bridge builds in Bolivia and Rwanda.  

Working with the charity Bridges to Prosperity, a non-profit organisation aiming to reduce rural isolation, the bridges provide communities with safe and improved access to markets, education, healthcare facilities, and jobs. 

In 2023, after two weeks of construction, thousands of miles of travel, with dozens of new friendships made, a team from our US business completed the construction of a bridge that will provide more than 2,000 people with a safe passage over the Rusine River.  

In a similar project to help people cross the Gasayo River in Nkegete, a team from our UK business also completed a bridge build that will improve the lives of 1,440 Rwandan residents for years to come.  

Our work with Bridges to Prosperity will continue in 2024 as we prepare to send teams from the UK and US back to Rwanda to complete two further life-changing bridge builds. 

Over 20 years, Bridges to Prosperity has built more than 500 trail bridges, benefiting over 1.8 million community members. These bridges have had a transformational impact on the local communities in central and south America and East Africa, saving lives that would be lost in the swollen rainy-season rivers.
