Balfour Beatty’s expanded Paisley operations deliver ahead of schedule

6 December 2013

UK

In January this year, Balfour Beatty brought together its Paisley-based civil engineering and construction capability under one roof at Westpoint Business Park. The business now employs 260 people and operates across west, central and southern Scotland.

New orders approaching £60 million have been secured so far this year. The breadth of activities covered by Balfour Beatty is reflected in the nature of this year’s contract awards, for example, in Glasgow the company is using its combined skills in a £2.5 million contract to design and construct a new heliport facility in Govan for Scottish Exhibition Centre Limited.

The company is also currently delivering a £4.5 million design and construct civil engineering contract for a wind farm at Earlseat in Fife for Carbon Free Earlseat Limited, following the recent successful completion of Neilston Community Wind Farm for the same customer. The project is being delivered through Balfour Beatty’s Raynesway company which completes an average of 40 small civil engineering contracts in Scotland each year.

Balfour Beatty has also been awarded several contracts by the University of Edinburgh and is providing civil engineering services to SP Power Systems Limited for an earthworks platform for a power distribution system in the Scottish Borders.

Stephen Scott, Delivery Unit Managing Director for Balfour Beatty, said: “We are greatly encouraged by the results achieved this year and it is particularly rewarding to have secured so much repeat business, highlighting we have delivered customer satisfaction across our portfolio.”
