Balfour Beatty helps raise over £20,500 for Barnardo’s Scotland

10 October 2017

UK

Balfour Beatty, in partnership with Network Rail, has opened the gates to the Forth Bridge to raise over £20,500 for children’s charity Barnardo’s Scotland.

The unique fundraising event, ‘Yourview17’, which saw over 600 people ascend the bridge, attracted participants from across Scotland and further afield from Newcastle, Birmingham and the USA.

Balfour Beatty supported Barnardo’s Scotland in the planning of the popular event, offering a team of volunteers to facilitate on the day and allowing for guests to climb 361ft above the Forth.

Colin Hardie, Construction Superintendent for Balfour Beatty said: “Balfour Beatty has a long standing association with the Forth Bridge and our team was proud to offer their time voluntarily to help facilitate this event and raise over £20,500 for this great cause.”

Barnardo’s Scotland will utilise funds to help support children and young people through community-based services across Scotland.

Balfour Beatty first started working on the Forth Bridge in 2002 to deliver refurbishment works, and now carries out maintenance on behalf of Network Rail.
