Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, has been appointed to deliver the first phase of the redevelopment of The Royal National Orthopedic Hospital (RNOH) in North London on behalf of the RNOH NHS Trust.

The first phase of the redevelopment will involve the construction of a new state of the art five storey inpatient ward facility, accommodating up to 123 beds and a series of rehabilitation therapy and recreation suites for the specialist Neuro Musculoskeletal Orthopaedic Hospital, based in Stanmore.

Balfour Beatty will utilise its technological expertise across the project, including Building Information Modelling (BIM) during the design process, management of logistics and to act as the interface with live hospital operations and construction works so as to reduce the risk of delays and enhance operational efficiencies.

We look forward to delivering the initial phase of what will be a first-class facility for patients of this world renowned hospital.

Frank Hennessy, Director of Redevelopment at the Trust said, “The Trust is delighted to see the commencement of the redevelopment of the hospital. This contract with Balfour Beatty represents the first step towards the complete replacement of the existing outdated infrastructure at Stanmore. Further phases are already at an advanced planning stage and will be implemented over the following decade or so”.

The project is due to complete in Autumn 2018. At its peak the project will employ over 200 people, with a specific focus on the employment of local labour and SMEs.
