Balfour Beatty has been selected to deliver over $70 million (£55 million) in special project works across Central and South Florida, in the US. The projects signify the company’s commitment to not only large projects in these areas but also niche, quick-turn speciality projects, as well as expanding Balfour Beatty’s special project works portfolio across the corporate office, adaptive reuse, aviation, entertainment/hospitality, public/civic and mixed-use/retail market sectors.

Since January, the company’s Buildings operations have been chosen to construct more than 13 special projects on behalf of clients across its Florida markets. Notable projects include:

  • Crooked Can Brewery’s construction of a new 40,000-square-foot brewery in Minneola. Construction is expected to start early 2025 with completion in Spring 2026.
  • The adaptive reuse of Asana Partners’ Minnesota Row Business Center in Winter Park. The hospitality project for the repeat-client transforms the six-building Winter Park Business Center into a mixed-use complex offering office, retail and food and beverage. Construction is underway with expected completion in Spring 2026.
  • The completion of Osceola County’s Fire Station 85, a public/civic project in Kissimmee which included the new construction of a 12,290-square-foot station for local responders.
  • The team has also been selected to deliver another fire station for Osceola County, Fire Station 83 which will be the 17th station in the County featuring its innovative prototype design to further enhance emergency services for Kissimmee residents. Construction is underway for the project with expected completion in Summer 2025.
  • The delivery of phase one of Diplomat Beach Resort’s renovations which includes 33,328 square feet of improvements to the existing resort’s porte cochère drop-off, hotel lobby, lobby bar and pool deck.
  • A meeting space renovation at JW Marriott’s Grand Lake Orlando Resort in Hollywood. Renovations to the 197,000-square-foot space are being safely executed while the facility continues its reservation operations.
  • Completed and ongoing works for United Airlines in Orlando including employee breakroom renovations and critical maintenance and repairs to its 60-foot-tall South Hangar.
  • The completion of a mixed-use/retail space on behalf of Lapis Retail Landlord and in partnership with Toll Brothers Apartment Living which services Florida International University students, adjacent to the college’s Sweetwater campus in Miami.
