Balfour Beatty features in Building Magazine celebrating the opening of Midland Metropolitan University Hospital

Balfour Beatty has featured in Building Magazine exploring West Birmingham’s new super hospital, Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.

The in-depth article discusses how Balfour Beatty successfully overcame a number of challenges to complete the new nine-floor, state-of-the-art hospital building - the largest acute care hospital in the region, with over 700 beds for inpatients, 11 operating theatres, an A&E department, diagnostic suites and research and education departments.

Speaking about the importance of early contractor involvement in overcoming the challenges faced, Mark Jacques, Balfour Beatty’s Project Lead said: “The early works gave us an opportunity to engage our supply chain, and being on site gave us the opportunity to understand what the issues were… It meant we could start work very close to when we signed the contract.”
