What you'll be doing
As the Data Analytics Manager, you’ll oversee a team of data analysts and help to design and build a series of high-value data products for CWA and its supply chain. Working to align upstream data pipelines (data integration & engineering) with downstream data consumers (data analysts & BI developers).
Engage key business stakeholders to ensure we understand and deliver to their downstream analytics and reporting requirements
• Scope & design data products to meet these requirements
• Work as part of our data pods to deliver end-end data products (incl. data architecture, Data engineering & Dara integration experts)
• Serve data to the business in a consumable and performant manner
• Define best practice and provide technical oversight of data analytics work
Enterprise-Grade Power BI Development & Management
• Maintain and develop enterprise-level Power BI datasets, ensuring scalability, optimal
performance, and alignment with business needs.
• Design and implement efficient data models using Kimball-style star schema principles to transform raw data into analysis-ready insights.
• Optimize Power BI models, including DAX calculations, Power Query (M), and report
performance, ensuring efficient and responsive analytics.
• Establish data refresh schedules, incremental loading strategies, and performance tuning to support streaming and non-streaming analytics.
Advanced Data Modelling & Architecture
• Design, implement, and optimize data models that balance performance and usability across relational and non-relational data sources, aligning with the organization's strategic objectives.
• Apply medallion architecture principles, ensuring a structured flow from raw to curated and refined data layers within the Azure ecosystem.
• Work with data engineers to ensure data pipelines are optimized for analytics consumption, ensuring seamless integration across data sources.
• Advocate for best practices in data modelling and ensure adherence to industry standards and governance policies.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Who we're looking for
Technical Skills:
• Extensive experience with Kimball-style dimensional modelling (Star Schema) and data warehousing best practices.
• Strong understanding of relational vs. non-relational data sources, and how to integrate them effectively into analytics solutions.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with performance tuning in environments such as SQL Server and Power BI.
• Expertise in building and optimizing Power BI data models, including DAX calculations and visualization best practices.
• Familiarity with Azure data services, including Data Lake and Azure Databricks.
• Understanding of medallion architecture and how to apply it in modern data platform designs.
• Experience with version control and deployment pipelines in Power BI.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and translate non-technical requests to implementation.
• Strong experience in team leadership, with a focus on creating a positive, supportive, and collaborative work environment.
• Ability to foster growth in technical and analytical skills for team members.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, ensuring alignment between business and technical teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
• Previous experience in a Senior Analytics Engineering role or similar.
Desirable
• Microsoft certifications in Azure Data Services and Power BI.
• Experience in civil infrastructure or large-scale public sector projects.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in iterative development environments.
