What you'll be doing

To support the Balfour Beatty Environmental Manger to:



  • Provide pragmatic support to contract and operational teams on site with delivering ecological requirements to programme, budget, and quality standard. This includes on-site surveys, inspections and watching briefs.

  • Problem-solve, finding practical cost-effective solutions to environmental sustainability challenges facing construction teams.

  • Liaise with design teams, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Actively help deliver a culture of continual improvement of on-site environmental
    sustainability practice that is solution-orientated to support construction teams.


Reporting to the Balfour Beatty Environmental Advisor on the following key activities:



  • Provide pragmatic advice and site support to operational teams on environmental
    sustainability l requirements.

  • Develop and support implementation of environmental sustainability management plans.

  • Build relationships with regulators, clients and design teams, and internal teams.

  • Support site compliance with environmental sustainability legislation and coach construction teams in applying controls and mitigations in pragmatic, cost-effective ways.

  • Investigate and report environmental sustainability incidents

Who we're looking for

The following qualities/experience are essential:



  • Knowledge of ecological management and mitigation

  • Educated to degree or Masters level in environmental sustainability or related subject

  • Good understanding of ecological legalisation for development

  • Full driver’s licence and flexibility to travel

  • An understanding of environmental management for construction sites

  • An understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment

  • Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Excellent communication skills


The following qualities/experience are desirable:



  • IEMA/IES/CIWEM Membership

  • Experience of working on large scale infrastructure construction projects
