About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Assistant Package Manager to join our outstanding Major Projects team to work at our Old Oak Common development in London – join us and be part of the largest construction project in the UK.


HS2s new c. 1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UKs best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction, and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.


Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide highspeed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland, and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

What you'll be doing

As an Assistant Package Manager you will be at Section Engineer level to act as Assistant Package Manager for the HS2 Station Reinforced Concrete Works.



  • Act as the main site contact and report back to BBVS Package Managers

  • Oversee package documentation, approvals, and communication

  • Analyse construction sequences and programme schedules

  • Ensure safe and environmentally responsible project delivery

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and maintain progress reports

  • Manage daily diaries, readiness certification, and issue resolution

  • Ensure Quality of work

Who we're looking for

Qualifications (Essential):



  • BSc, MSc, or BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent GNVQ)

  • CSCS qualification & eligibility to work in the UK

  • Experience in major civils/infrastructure projects & reinforced concrete works

  • Understanding of quality assurance & subcontractor management


Desirable:



  • SMSTS, PTS & ICE membership


Skills & Experience:



  • Strong civil engineering background on large projects

  • Knowledge of NEC3 contracts & subcontractor performance monitoring

  • Experience with temporary works, multidisciplinary interfaces & reporting


Bonus Experience:



  • Civils works (drainage, precast, cast-in RC) & Network Rail/TFL interfaces

  • Familiarity with document control systems (BC, eB, CEMAR)
