Join our Living Places team as a Street Lighting Operative on the Cambridgeshire County Council Contract and you’ll be part of it. 

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for:



  • Installation, repair and maintenance of street lighting assets, including columns, lanterns, LED lantern replacements, beacons, lamps, brackets, underground SWA cables, illuminated bollards, illuminated signs, feeder pillars and subway lights.

  • Predominantly lone working, however there will be occasions where team working is required.

  • Painting of various street furniture.

  • Ground excavations and reinstatement for installation works.

  • Dynamic risk assessments.

  • Responsible for company property, equipment and vehicles.

  • Stand-by rota for out of hours call-outs and emergencies. 

Who we're looking for

Essential:



  • Full clean UK driving licence.

  • Competence in street lighting operations.

  • Knowledge of fault-finding, repairs and general maintenance.

  • Comfortable with basic IT a tablet device will be provided for site works.

  • HEA Portfolio

  • First Aid

  • Manual Handling

  • Current ECS test

  • CSC/NPORS red card

  • NRSWA

  • IPAF 1b + Harness & Fall Arrest
