What you'll be doing
The role is to provide management of preconstruction activities in readiness for delivery of the works in the Marine and Tunnels (M+T) scope, part of the overarching Civil Works Programme of SZC. The Preconstruction Lead will support the development of the strategy for delivering the Marine and Tunnels scope safely and to cost, schedule and quality within the agreed constraints.
The role includes management and coordination of other team members, with the primary task to the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process between M+T, the L3 Designer, and Client, inputting into and monitoring programme, preconstruction activities and site readiness deliverables, whilst recognising the impacts of the programme on the wider Project and interfacing packages.
The scope of the Marine and Tunnels is the design, planning, procurement, and execution of the– two intake tunnels, one outfall tunnel, offshore connections between the tunnel and seabed, as well as support works.
Who we're looking for
• Track record of delivering projects throughout the project lifecycle within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
• Demonstrate success in developing and managing:
o Engineering design, methods, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
o Procurement and management of contracts,
o Control of costs; risk; schedule and change
o Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders
• Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, commercial/estimating management, and facilitation.
• Experience of / good understanding of the technical / delivery aspects of the scope
• Experience of working to and meeting tight deadlines in preconstruction stages
• Experience of managing sub-contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, preferably in the preconstruction phase, including experience of NEC contracts.
• Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, and a good collaborator who is able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
