What you'll be doing
- Develop relationships with customers and their representatives to understand project requirements.
- Assist in the preparation, coordination, and delivery of presentations to successfully secure contracts.
- Support the bid process, including:
- Governance papers and tender settlement documentation
- Bid management plans and bid programmes
- Liaising with supply chain partners and consultants to shape bid content
- Ensuring compliance with all tender requirements
- Contributing written technical, legal, and financial content to bids
- Maintaining document control and clarification registers
- Conducting customer intelligence gathering and competitor SWOT analysis
- Represent the business at key customer meetings and industry events, such as bidder open days.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including bid steering committees and sponsors, to prepare and present tender settlement meetings.
- Support the transition of secured contracts to operational teams.
- Contribute to the development of digital toolsets, including BIM and 5D cost planning, to enhance bid submissions.
- Maintain a Project Risk Register to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Uphold Balfour Beatty’s Values, ensuring a focus on Zero Harm and sustainability initiatives.
Who we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships under time pressure.
- A customer-centric approach, identifying opportunities in invitations to tender.
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement within the bid-writing process.
- Strong IT skills, mathematical ability, and excellent bid-writing proficiency.
