What you'll be doing
As a General Foreman, you'll enjoy plenty of influence and succeed here if you:
- Take ownership of works from start to finish including handover.
- Supervise works and a team of foremen, gangers, plant operators, subcontractors and a direct labour force making sure they have all the information they need.
- Focus on Zero Harm, identify potential hazards and implement controls.
- Help to produce work package plans, risk assessments and task briefing sheets.
- Provide recommendations for temporary works solutions.
- Carry out inspections to keep progress on track and quality levels at their highest.
- Make sure that all plant and small tools are well maintained.
- Assess material wastage allowances and make improvements if needed.
- Identify requirements for setting out to engineering teams.
Who we're looking for
As a General Foreman on some of the largest construction projects in the UK, you'll need to:
- Stay up to date on changes in relevant legislation such as health and safety.
- Bring experience of delivering engaging toolbox talks, allocating resource, monitoring key programme dates and managing the works of direct labour and subcontractors.
- Understand contract documents, construction tolerances and test plans.
- Think commercially and understand the terms and outputs of subcontractors.
- Be willing to work some unsociable hours to keep everything moving forwards.
- Have experience on civil engineering projects.
