About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Document Controller to join our Regional Buildings working within Birmingham


Within this role you'll manage and control all project and site documentation for one or more sites to ensure accurate registration, storage of drawings and specifications and accurate liaison with site and project-based staff or customer procurement, external suppliers and work winning staff, as appropriate.

What you'll be doing

As a Document Controller you'll: 


 



  • Manage the requirements for document control on one or more projects to ensure implementation and compliance to standards established within the Business Management System (BMS).

  • Identify contractual requirements in relation to Document control.

  • Liaise with the project team in the creation, development and update of key specific project related databases.

  • Ensure accurate control of project documentation from preconstruction through to construction completion, commissioning, handover and archiving.

  • Liaise with the project team to ensure they have a full understanding of document control and system procedures and provide training and instruction as required such that documentation control requirements are met.

  • Ensure that procedures are fully implemented to meet requirements of the BMS and other documentation and information systems, e.g. Business Collaborator plus other data storage systems.

  • Manage business archiving such that all documentation is stored efficiently and can be accessed and always referenced.

  • Work to continuously improve and enhance procedures and systems utilised for document control.

  • Provide feedback such that project team managers & supervisors are fully aware of all documentation issues and escalate any issues accordingly.

The following qualities/ experience are essential:


 



  • A good all-round communicator with interpersonal skills spanning our own business, client stakeholders and the wider supply chain partners.

  • A good understanding of IT and the Business Collaborator EDMS

  • An ability to understand how the operations of the project department relate to others and work collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the business

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills

  • An ability to be data conscious and analytical when managing data in various databases across the project functions.
