What you'll be doing
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced site-based Quality Inspector to join our team at Sizewell C, a new major nuclear power station project. The current phase of work involves extensive earthworks and enabling works, so experience in these areas is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality in all civil engineering works on-site, reporting directly to the Quality Team Lead.
- Conduct thorough inspections of earthworks and enabling works to ensure compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor construction activities to verify adherence to quality control procedures and safety protocols.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify, document, and report any non-conformances or defects in the construction process.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, supervisors, and project managers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, observations, and corrective actions taken.
- Ensure that all materials and workmanship meet the required quality standards.
- Participate in site meetings and provide input on quality-related issues and construction progress.
- Assist in the preparation of quality inspection reports and documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Support the Quality Team Lead in developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures.
- Report to QA/QC Manager, control and monitor all activities related to quality management system.
- Effectively communicate relevant information to superiors and team members.
- Support the project site team in comprehending and implementing QA/QC requirements.
- Provides awareness on QA/QC matters to all site staff.
- Monitor inspection activities of Third-Party Inspections and review reports.
- Verify implementation of preventative measures & review evidence for NCR closures
Who we're looking for
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in civil construction quality inspection, preferably in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction quality standards, codes, and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confident in working with all levels of management and workforce.
- Is good at building relationships and can influence effectively.
- Pro-active, innovative, self-starter who manages their own time and seeks to add value to their function.
- Proficiency in using quality inspection tools and software.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to the site as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nuclear power plant construction or similar high-complexity projects.
- Certification in quality control or construction inspection.
